About Newham Hospital
Newham University Hospital is an acute general and teaching hospital on Glen Road in Plaistow, in the London Borough of Newham, operated by Barts Health NHS Trust. With around 340 inpatient beds, it serves one of the most diverse and fastest-growing populations in England — roughly 300,000 people across the borough. The 24/7 adult Emergency Department is supported by a co-located urgent care centre, and the hospital provides a full range of acute medicine, surgery, women's and children's health, consultant-led maternity, a special care baby unit, renal services and elective surgery through the Gateway Surgical Centre. Current Newham Hospital A&E waiting times are tracked here in real time, sourced from Barts Health NHS Trust.
Emergency Department (A&E)
This facility is an Emergency Department (A&E), providing care for serious and life-threatening conditions. The department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A co-located urgent care centre handles less serious injuries and illness.
